Porsche originally planned on building 1500 Porsche Carrera GTs, but in fact only 1270 were actually built, with almost half of these going to the US. Just five standard colours were available on the Carrera GT (although Porsche would produce special paint finishes on request) and all featured a six speed manual ‘box and a base list price of $444,000 + tax.
